Himal Luitel is Assistant Professor at the Center for Biotechnology, Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. He has been serving at the university since 2015. He played a leading role in the development of the Center for Biotechnology from the infancy state to the current state. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Laboratory Animal Unit, Bacteriology Unit, Virology Unit, Cell Culture Unit, Molecular Unit, and Molecular Unit within the Center. He is a member of the Executive Council of Gandaki Province Academy of Science and Technology (GPAST).

Before joining the university, He did his Ph.D. and Post-doctorate from Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. He started his profession as a veterinarian in 2005 and later trained in Molecular Biology. He has Master of Science in Molecular Biology Interuniversity Program Molecular Biology (IPMB), a joint master’s program under the umbrella of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Universiteit Antwerpen, Belgium. 

During his career development, he got numerous awards in the academic field. He was awarded the International Trainee Development Scholarship Award for attending the American Thoracic Society (ATS) International Conference, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 17-22 May 2013. Before that, he got a Molecular Biology and Medicine of the Lungs (MBML) scholarship for Ph.D. study at Justus Liebig University, Giessen (2008-2011) and VLIR (Flemish Interuniversity Council, Belgium) scholarship for Master of Science in Molecular Biology under IPMB (2006-2008). He has outstanding experience in in-vivo experiments for pre-clinical trials of biologicals and drugs, Molecular tools and techniques, mammalian cell culture, etc.

Mr. Luitel has published more than 20 articles in different national and international journals. Additionally, he has guided and still guided master and Ph.D. students in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Aquaculture, etc. He has attended numerous national and international conferences and workshops. Moreover, he has been involved in the meetings organized by Agriculture and Forestry University, as the technical member of the organizing committee.
