Dr Shiva Devkota, a seasoned
researcher, brings over two decades of expertise in ecology and evolution,
focusing on wild mushrooms, caterpillar fungi, and lichens in Himalayan
landscapes. Holding a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and
Landscape Research (WSL) and the University of Bern, Switzerland, along with an
MSc in Botany and an MA in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, he
has cultivated collaborative relationships with various governmental,
intergovernmental, non-governmental, and academic organizations. Noteworthy
achievements include a wealth of scientific publications, a notable track record of
securing research grants, contributions to the IPBES as a selected Fellow
Scientist after a global competition, and the honor of having a lichen species (Lobaria
devkotae M.X. Yang & Scheid) named after him by Swiss and Chinese
scientists. Passionate about delivering Science to Society, Dr. Devkota
actively engages in noble initiatives such as the "Awareness Program on
Mushroom Poisoning," "Mycotourism," and "Mapping the
Underground Network of Fungi" in Nepal.
