Prof. Naba Raj Devkota is working as the Vice-Chancellor of Gandaki University, Pokhara. In addition, Prof. Devkota is as provisioned, also the officiating member of the Executive Council of Gandaki Province Academy of Science and Technology (GPAST), an autonomous government institution working in science, technology, and innovation.

Before joining Gandaki University, Prof. Devkota worked first at the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS)/Tribhuvan University until 2010 as the capacity of Professor and Director of Research and then endorsed at Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) then after worked as the capacity of Professor in Animal Science beside his additional responsibility of Director of Research and Extension.

Prof. Devkota has obtained his Ph.D. degree in Pasture Science from Massey University, New Zealand, under the ODA Scholarship program in 1999 and a Master of Science in Agriculture from Chiang Mai University, Thailand, in 1993.

Prof. Devkota has been actively teaching and researching forage production and its use, mainly concerning the livestock production systems (goats and dairy focus) for the last 36 years in Nepal. Besides, he has served constantly as a member of the Editorial Board from 2001 to 2007 for the Journal of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science published annually from Tribhuvan University, IAAS, Nepal. In addition, he served as Editor-In-Chief of the same journal from January 2008 to 2011 (vol. 28-33). Additionally, he also worked as an Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Agriculture and Forestry University, JAFU (2017 to 2020). Prof. Devkota is also trained to carry out system analysis work from ecological and developmental perspectives and promotes participatory research and development through various organizations in Nepal. Prof. Devkota has conducted more than two dozen evaluation works and studies related to Livestock (goats and cattle, buffaloes) and Natural resources/Agriculture for national and international organizations.

Prof. Devkota has published more than 100 scientific articles, including those high-impact factor international journals; 5-book chapters, as co-author. Prof. Devkota has also attended numerous international conferences and symposiums. Likewise, he has presented oral and poster presentations on different national and global platforms.

Prof. Devkota is a life member of the Nepal Animal Science Association, Nepal; a member of the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS); The New Zealand Grassland Association, and an Associate Member of the Association of Nepalese Agricultural Professionals in America (NAPA). Besides, Prof. Devkota has received a Ph.D. Scholarship award, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of New Zealand (1996-2000); M.Sc. study scholarship, by the Ford Foundation through Multiple Cropping Centre (MCC), Chiang Mai University, Thailand; MAHENDRA VIDYA BHUSAN "KA" and  "KHA," (Gold medal given to the Ph.D. holder, and the first-class first student in Master level of study, respectively) by His Majesty of Government, the Ministry of Education and Sports, Nepal as well as Best teacher award, 2010, TU, Nepal.
